The Iris perfume of the Pharmaceutical Perfume Workshop of Santa Maria Novella is a bouquet of earthy floral notes. Of very distant Asian origin, “Shu-tu-wu”, “came from heaven”, this is the name attributed to the iris in some ancient sacred books preserved in a monastery in Tibet. The iris grows spontaneously on the hills of Tuscany so much that it was taken as a symbol of the city of Florence. In mythology, Iris was the messenger of the gods who through the rainbow was the bearer of good new ones. In the language of flowers it symbolizes “Majestic Beauty”
